an authorly update.

Hello there—it’s been some time since I posted anything authorly. Truthfully, I haven’t had much excitement on the writing front lately. I remain proud of my debut novel. I think it’s a solid and poignant read that I continue to recommend purchasing if you haven’t already. However, I also maintain that being a writer is hard as hell and even if you put in the blood, sweat and tears it takes to write the book what you want to see in the world, it guarantees nothing in return.

This truth has taken a toll on my progress with my sophomore work but nonetheless, still I write. I’m thankful to have stories to tell and that an interesting, complex one like my current project chose me to write it into existence. Wish me luck, y’all.

I’ve had time to do quite a bit of reading and am very inspired by George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series at the moment—the worldbuilding, the sense of realism, the mysteries, the epic scale of it all…

As far as events go, I’m delighted to return to Artists in the Afternoon this Labor Day weekend. I’ll be signing and selling a few books, as well as participating in a panel so if any readers are in the Atlanta area, come out to celebrate Black gay authors.

Outside of all that, life ain’t so bad. It’s not perfect, either, but I am so grateful to have love and light surrounding me when things seem uncertain.

Thank you to everyone for reading/supporting me.

Love,

Casey Hamilton
